First report of Neocosmospora solani associated with trunk and scaffold cankers on almond in Turkey.

Abstrakt: This article reports the first occurrence of Neocosmospora solani causing trunk and scaffold cankers on almond trees in Turkey. The symptoms observed included dark black lesions on the trunk, branch dieback, and brown discoloration of wood tissue. The pathogen was identified through morphological and molecular analysis, and its identity was confirmed as Neocosmospora solani. Pathogenicity tests showed that the inoculated branches developed canker lesions, while the control branches remained unaffected. This finding is significant as it represents the first report of N. solani associated with trunk and scaffold canker on almond trees in Turkey. [Extracted from the article]
