Magnesium oxide (MgO) thin film is one of the transparent conducting oxide semiconductors. MgO is a promising material for flat panel displays and Solar Cells due to its excellent optical and electrical properties. This paper focuses on the chemical and physical methods that influence the structural properties of MgO thin films, such as chemical spray pyrolysis technology and the solution growth process, Electron beam evaporation technique, Rf magnetron sputtering, and chemical vapor deposition, Many researchers have focused their efforts in recent years on improving the fundamental properties of thin films, particularly thin (MgO) films, which have a wide range of uses, We presented the most important developments in the field of deposition techniques and some applications of thin(MgO) films and the most important tests conducted by researchers on these films.
