The need for development of civics education question based on higher order thinking skills.

Abstrakt: This research aims to determine the need for civics education based on higher-order thinking skills to support learning. The activity was carried out using an online survey method to 30 students using a random sampling technique and discussions with the civics education course supervisor team. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively of quantitative. The survey results show that 83.3% of students have handbooks as learning resources, according to 100% of students, lecturers, as well as course supervisors, have handbooks in teaching, which is supported by 93.3% of students who think that lecturers have used learning media. The survey also showed that 76.7% of students considered Civics courses to be easy to learn, so 53.3% of students thought that the questions tested were quite easy to solve. Thus 90% of students feel the need to be given questions based on higher-order thinking skills. Furthermore, 86.7% of students hope that these questions can be given during the midterm and final exams so that students are more motivated to study because 96.7% of students prepare for the exam. In addition to the learning process in the classroom, 63.3% of students want lecturers to add practice questions, mid-semester and final-semester exams based on higher-order thinking skills and 36.7% of students want discussion questions and problem-solving in groups, where the experience of students in when participating in the selection for college entrance or work, civics education materials are often used as a national insight test and 56.7% of them do not have the higher-order thinking skill-based question book. So, through discussions with the course supervisory team, the lecturer felt the need to develop higher-order thinking skills-based civics education questions to support learning and train students to think at a higher level.
