A recent study conducted by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) compared two approaches for ultrasound-guided vessel cannulation: the short axis (SA) approach and the long axis (LA) approach. The study aimed to determine which approach is more effective and safe. The researchers conducted a meta-analysis of 16 studies involving 1885 participants and found no significant difference between the SA and LA approaches in terms of first-pass success rate, overall cannulation success rate, complication rate, cannulation time, and number of attempts. This suggests that both approaches are equally effective for ultrasound-guided vascular access. [Extracted from the article] |
