Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at Cairo University examined the influence of metabolic tumor burden (MTB) on standardized uptake values (SUVs) in reference tissues in sequential F-18-FDG PET/CT studies after therapy for different response groups in lymphoma patients. The study found a significant negative correlation between the percent change in MTB and the percent change of SUV in the liver, blood pool, brain, and muscles. The researchers concluded that MTB can potentially affect F-18-FDG biodistribution in reference organs, which may impact the interpretation of sequential studies. They also suggested that normalizing tumor FDG uptake to muscles could be a potential stable reference tissue in lymphoma patients. [Extracted from the article]
