Researchers at China Pharmaceutical University have published a study on the potential benefits of Moutai distiller's grain polyphenol extract (MDGP) in treating colitis. The study found that MDGP, specifically its main active component rutin, can alleviate colitis symptoms in mice by modulating the gut microbiota and strengthening the intestinal barrier. Rutin was shown to suppress pathogenic bacteria while promoting beneficial bacteria, leading to improved intestinal function and reduced inflammation. These findings highlight the therapeutic potential of MDGP and rutin in treating colitis and suggest the importance of distiller's grains in functional food development.
