A recent study conducted in Timisoara, Romania examined the differences in anxiety, depressive symptoms, and coping strategies between male and female orthognathic patients. The study found that female patients had higher levels of anxiety and depressive symptoms compared to males. Additionally, coping mechanisms varied between the sexes, with males primarily using "Disengagement" strategies and females predominantly using "Engagement" and "Emotion Focused" strategies. The research highlights the importance of providing sex-tailored psychological support for orthognathic surgery patients in the preoperative phase. [Extracted from the article] |
