Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at Southern Medical University in Guangzhou, China, focused on the migration of chemicals from emerging biodegradable food contact materials (FCMs) into food. The study used non-targeted screening to analyze migrants from a specific type of FCM and identified 16 volatile migrants and 134 non-volatile compounds. The researchers ranked the risk of these migrants and found that 13 small molecules were of great concern. Pesticide residues and mycotoxins were highlighted as particularly worrisome. This research provides valuable insights into the safety assessment of biodegradable FCMs. [Extracted from the article]
