New research from the University of Oxford highlights the issue of zero-dose children (ZDC) who have not received a single dose of the diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (DTP) vaccine, particularly in developing countries. The study focuses on Cameroon and proposes a composite scoring system to rank communities at high risk of having ZDC. The scoring system incorporates indicators such as hard-to-reach areas, slums, and the percentage of children unvaccinated for DTP-1. The research emphasizes the need to consider multiple indicators before prioritizing vaccination efforts. [Extracted from the article] |
