Abstrakt: Researchers at Federal University Campina Grande in Brazil have conducted a study on the use of chitosan-polyethylene glycol (CS-PEG) hemostatic gels loaded with Jatropha mollissima sap extract (EES) for hemorrhage control. The gels were found to be thermally stable, had good rheological properties, and were biocompatible. In vivo experiments on rats showed that the gels were effective in reducing bleeding time and blood weight compared to control groups and a commercial product. The researchers concluded that CS-PEG-EES gels are a simple and safe hemostatic agent. [Extracted from the article]
