A recent study conducted by Shionogi & Co. Ltd. in Osaka, Japan, has provided new insights into the prophylactic treatment of influenza. The researchers found that baloxavir acid, an antiviral drug, demonstrated significant efficacy in reducing lung viral titres and prolonging survival time in mice infected with influenza A and B viruses. The study suggests that baloxavir marboxil may have potential utility for prophylaxis against influenza in humans. This research contributes to the ongoing efforts to combat influenza, which remains a global health concern. [Extracted from the article] |
