This letter, published in JA Clinical Reports, presents a rare case of cardiac tamponade and pulmonary embolism occurring simultaneously in a patient with Trousseau's syndrome. The patient, a 42-year-old woman with a history of lung adenocarcinoma, was admitted to the hospital with severe dyspnea and tachycardia. Despite undergoing pericardiocentesis to drain pericardial effusion, her symptoms did not improve, and her condition worsened. The authors discuss the challenges of managing both conditions due to conflicting treatment approaches and the delicate balance between the degree of pulmonary embolism and pericardial effusion.
