This article introduces a special section in the Global Policy Journal that aims to foster a lively intellectual debate on war and peace in international politics and theory. The section was curated in response to the challenge of rethinking the focus on international organizations and institutions in the context of conflict and competition. The section includes contributions that explore various perspectives on conflict, violence, and peace, including discussions on global constitutionalism, democratic peace, settler colonialism, and the role of technology in warfare.
