Abstrakt: The article discusses the need to decolonize language and culture education, particularly in the field of German Studies. It highlights how the current curriculum and teaching materials prioritize White Germanness and fail to reflect the cultural diversity of Germany and other German-speaking countries. This lack of representation negatively impacts students who do not fit into the narrow idea of what it means to be German. The article presents an approach to diversifying the German Studies program through the integration of critical intercultural dialogue and the implementation of intercultural citizenship projects. The goal is to create a curriculum that reflects the social and cultural diversity of German-speaking countries and areas and promotes active intercultural citizenship. The article emphasizes the importance of ongoing assessment, reflection, and collaboration in order to continually improve and adapt the curriculum. The outcomes of the project include standardized intercultural citizenship projects, increased awareness of colonial continuities in area studies, and the integration of decolonizing approaches into classroom practices. The article concludes by discussing future plans to integrate intercultural literature and Digital Humanities into the curriculum. [Extracted from the article]
