In experiments, upon assessing the consequences of the action of high hydrostatic pressure and uniaxial compression on licorice (Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch.) seeds, the effect of overcoming hardseededness is found, confirmed by high values of the proportion of normally germinated seeds of the total number of hard seeds in the specimen under study. The strength of the seed coat determines the maximum force to break the seed under uniaxial compression. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
