Abstrakt: The article discusses several recent judgments by the European Courts related to environmental issues. One case focuses on the designation and protection of habitats under Directive 92/43, where Ireland was found to be non-compliant in designating certain areas as special areas of conservation and implementing necessary conservation measures. Similar cases are pending against other Member States. Another case examines the requirement for an environmental impact assessment (EIA) for a hotel complex in Vienna, highlighting the need for flexibility in assessing the environmental impact of projects. The article also discusses cases related to air pollution in Portugal, noise abatement in Poland, and the authorization of a carcinogenic substance. These cases raise questions about the effectiveness of EU environmental law and the need for stronger enforcement and implementation. [Extracted from the article]
