The biological preparation technologies of ingredients from pearls were reviewed around enzyme engineering and fermentation engineering. The distribution of efficacy of pearl hydrolysates and pearl fermented extracts were focused on, as well as possible mechanisms of action. The development prospect and application potential of biotechnologies in the direction of active ingredient extraction of pearls were pointed out, and certain theoretical and data support for biotechnology development for pearls were provided.
