A recent report from the University of Laval in Quebec City, Canada, discusses the potential of using a polygenic risk score (PRS) to improve breast cancer risk prediction tools. The study reviewed 37 articles that described the development and validation of breast cancer risk prediction models using a PRS for the general population. The findings suggest that models combining a PRS with genetic and non-genetic risk factors had better accuracy than those using a PRS alone. However, further research is needed to assess the clinical utility and implementation of these tools in public health practices. [Extracted from the article] |
