A study conducted at the National Hospital Organization Beppu Medical Center in Beppu, Japan, has reported a rare case of cerebral venous thrombosis presenting as chronic isolated intracranial hypertension in a 38-year-old woman with untreated Graves' disease. The patient experienced symptoms such as headache and diplopia, and was found to have bilateral papilledema and abducens nerve paralysis. The study suggests that hyperthyroidism can induce a hypercoagulable state and lead to venous thromboembolism. The patient recovered after receiving propylthiouracil and anticoagulation therapy.
