Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by researchers at Capital Medical University in Beijing, China, aimed to investigate the prevalence and prognostic significance of metabolic risk factors in primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). The study analyzed a cohort of 789 PBC patients and found that hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) were the main metabolic risk factors in PBC in China. Hyperlipidemia was associated with a lower risk of liver-related death and adverse outcomes, while hypertension was noted as a risk factor for liver-related death and adverse outcomes. The study also found that older age and cirrhosis had superimposition effects on hypertension for poor liver-related outcomes. [Extracted from the article]
