A study conducted by the MGH Institute of Health Professions in Boston compared the effects of 30 minutes of exergaming (active video games) versus brisk walking on the physiological and psychological measurements of older adults. The study found that exergaming resulted in higher heart rates and double product compared to brisk walking. Participants also reported lower perceived exertion and higher enjoyment during exergaming. The research suggests that exergaming can be a viable alternative to traditional exercises like walking for older adults, providing physiological benefits while being less exhausting and more enjoyable.
