Abstrakt: A new study conducted at Hospital Universitario Marques de Valdecilla in Santander, Spain, has developed a method for estimating the burden of aortic stenosis and predicting the functional response to transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). The study found that this new method, which involves an integrated analysis of left ventricular outflow tract flow velocity and aortic pressure, can more accurately predict objective functional improvement after TAVI compared to conventional parameters. The research showed that patients who demonstrated objective functional improvement had significantly lower mortality rates at 2 years compared to those who did not. This new method could be particularly useful for low-gradient patients. [Extracted from the article]
