Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans explored the effects of acute severe hypoglycemia (ASH) and mild hypoglycemia (AMH) on the proteome of mouse brain microvessels. The researchers found that ASH downregulated proteins involved in maintaining the actin cytoskeleton, which is important for blood-brain barrier maintenance and angiogenesis. Additionally, ASH upregulated RNA-binding proteins involved in RNA splicing, transport, and stability. These findings suggest that ASH can impair cytoskeletal integrity and RNA processing, which are critical for cerebrovascular function. Further research is needed to fully understand the underlying mechanisms. [Extracted from the article]
