A study conducted at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh, India, compared the efficacy of different respiratory supports in preventing hypoxia during bronchoscopy in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The study found that non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and high-flow oxygen therapy (HFOT) were more effective than conventional oxygen therapy (COT) in preventing hypoxia. However, NIV was associated with poor patient tolerance and inferior ease of performing the procedure for the operator. The study provides valuable insights into the management of COPD patients undergoing bronchoscopy. [Extracted from the article] |
