Researchers at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, United Kingdom, have conducted a study on the potential use of whisky distillery waste as a sustainable source of antioxidant and antibacterial properties. The waste by-products, such as pot ale, were found to have strong antioxidant activity and could reduce DNA damage. Additionally, pot ale showed potent antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. This research suggests that whisky by-products could be utilized in a circular economy, promoting sustainability. [Extracted from the article] |
