Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted by the University College London (UCL) Medical Research Council (MRC) Clinical Trials Unit has found that young people living with perinatally acquired human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) experience a decrease in CD4 count during adolescence. The study analyzed changes in CD4 count over time in a cohort of young people with perinatally acquired HIV who started antiretroviral therapy (ART) from 2000 onwards. The findings suggest that starting ART at an early age and maintaining a higher CD4 count during childhood may be important for maximizing immune reconstitution later in life. This research provides valuable insights into the evolution of CD4 T-cell count in young people growing up with perinatally acquired HIV. [Extracted from the article] |
