Abstrakt: Although Serious Games (SGs) have been shown to be beneficial in improving learning performance, their use in the classroom is still low. One of the barriers can be attributed to the complicated and costly development cycle. While efforts have been made to simplify the development of SGs, educators' role in the project development cycle is generally neglected. This could result in SGs produced that is not suitable for educators' teaching intentions or syllabus. This development paradigm also prevents future personal tailoring of the gameplay. This paper presents an educator-oriented design method aimed in guiding the conversion of real-world scenarios into quests for serious role-playing games (SRPG) as a form of learning instruction. Several focus group studies were conducted to evaluate the initial concept of this method, and findings from these studies show the potential of the method as a useful systematic guide for the creation of SRPGs.
