In today's modern society, the importance of transportation is undeniable. While Brunei is recognized for its abundant oil and gas reserves and fuel subsidies for vehicles, public transportation is not the predominant form of mobility in Brunei, as it is in other urban areas of other countries. This paper will focus on public perceptions of the current status of Brunei public transportation and the viability of integrating electric vehicles (electric buses) into the public transportation network. According to the results of the survey conducted, the majority of respondents are concerned about the present state of public transportation in Brunei, whereas the feasibility of the integration of electric vehicles on the existing network is perceived to be of little importance. Nevertheless, the underlining observation was that adopting electric buses would be the desired course of action given how environmentally beneficial these vehicles are. Therefore, it was established that the transportation network and infrastructure are the determining factors for the effective integration of electric vehicles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
