Influence of Operating Parameters on Lubrication Characteristics of Tilting Pad Thrust Bearings in Ships.

Abstrakt: In order to study the influence of ship operating parameters on the steady-state and transient characteristics of the tilting pad thrust bearing, a calculation model of the thermoelastic hydrodynamic lubrication of the tilting pad thrust bearing was established by using Matlab. Considering the thermoelastic deformation of the bearing pad, the viscosity temperature equation, energy equation, oil film stiffness and damping coefficient equation were used to solve the model, and the lubrication characteristics of the tilting pad thrust bearings was studied when considering thermoelastic deformation under different loads and speeds. The results indicate that when considering thermoelastic deformation, the minimum oil film thickness increases, while the maximum oil film pressure and maximum oil film temperature decrease. Under normal operating conditions, the thermal elastic deformation of the bearing pad is beneficial for improving the lubrication performance of the thrust bearing. The bearing design should consider the compressive and heat resistance of the material. With the increase of load at a constant speed, the minimum oil film thickness decreases, while the maximum oil film pressure, temperature, oil film stiffness, and damping all increase. Special attention should be paid to the dynamic lubrication condition of bearings under heavy load conditions. Under the same load, as the speed increases, the oil film thickness, oil film temperature, and oil film pressure do not change significantly. The stiffness and damping of the oil film decrease with the increase of speed, and the decrease is more significant at lower speeds. The research results provide reference for optimizing bearing design and improving the reliability and stability of bearing operation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
