Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Iran evaluated the affordability of medications used for chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and cystic fibrosis (CF). The study found that generic medicines for these conditions were affordable, but branded drugs were considered unaffordable despite 70% insurance coverage. Additionally, the research concluded that the existing insurance coverage does not adequately protect households from financial hardship, suggesting the need for alternative insurance schedules and patient support programs. This information may be useful for individuals researching the affordability of respiratory medications in middle-income countries. [Extracted from the article]
