New research conducted at the Menninger Clinic in Houston, Texas has examined the relationship between parental attachment styles and suicide risk in adolescents and adults admitted to an inpatient psychiatric hospital. The study found that individuals with insecure maternal and paternal attachment styles were at a significantly higher risk of suicide compared to those with secure attachment. The research suggests the importance of utilizing family-based interventions to reduce the risk of suicide. However, the study's limited racial and ethnic diversity may limit the generalizability of the results to a broader population. [Extracted from the article] |
