A recent study conducted by researchers at the National University of Singapore Hospital explores how novices can effectively evaluate the quality of microsurgical suturing. The study proposes the use of a novel Manual Suture Parameters for Training and Assessment (M-SParTA) scoring system to enhance the accuracy of scoring ability. The researchers suggest an initial framework for training novices in microsuturing, which includes exposure, assessment, and hands-on and self-assessment. The study concludes that an independent learning cycle with targeted supervision can provide novices with greater autonomy and a less stressful environment, ultimately enhancing their skills training.
