A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) focused on cutaneous angiosarcoma, an aggressive tumor commonly found in the head and neck region. The study, which involved a retrospective chart review of 64 patients from 1983 to 2019, found that negative margins were associated with decreased recurrence of the tumor. Additionally, the use of intraoperative frozen section analysis was found to potentially help obtain preliminary surgical margins. The study concluded that two-year overall survival was 80%, while recurrence-free survival was 30%. [Extracted from the article] |
