A study conducted in Foligno, Italy, focused on the challenging management of cardiac involvement in systemic sarcoidosis. The study involved a 34-year-old man who was diagnosed with systemic sarcoidosis with cardiac involvement after an FDG-PET scan. Corticosteroid therapy was initiated, and the patient was monitored using an implantable loop recorder (ILR). Despite initial regression of the AV block, the ILR revealed AV block and pauses after 8 months. The patient was then treated with infliximab and received a dual chamber ICD. The research concluded that the management of cardiac involvement in systemic sarcoidosis can be complex. [Extracted from the article] |
