Abstrakt: A recent study conducted by investigators at Johns Hopkins University examined the timing of maternal isoniazid preventive therapy on tuberculosis infection among infants exposed to HIV in low-income and middle-income settings. The study found that deferring the therapy to early postpartum had no effect on infant tuberculosis acquisition. The research also revealed that test agreement for tuberculosis was poor during infancy. Factors such as breastfeeding, BCG vaccination, and maternal tuberculin skin test positivity at delivery were associated with infant tuberculin skin test positivity. This study provides valuable insights into the prevention and management of tuberculosis in infants born to mothers with HIV. [Extracted from the article]
