This article, published in the journal Neuropediatrics, explores the use of neurofilament light chain (NfL) as a biomarker in monitoring pediatric multiple sclerosis (MS) patients. The study involved 35 pediatric MS patients, aged 9-17 years, who were monitored over a period of up to 36 months. The results showed that elevated levels of serum NfL (sNfL) correlated well with clinical symptoms and new lesions in MRI scans. The authors conclude that sNfL is a valuable biomarker for monitoring disease activity in pediatric MS patients. [Extracted from the article] |
