The article discusses Iran's interest in establishing a permanent station in Antarctica and examines the feasibility of this ambition. The authors, an Iranian researcher and a specialist in Antarctic geopolitics, provide an informed perspective on the matter. They analyze Iran's capabilities, resources, and motivations, as well as the operational realities and international norms governing Antarctic affairs. The article also explores the possibility of Iran joining the Antarctic Treaty System and collaborating with established Antarctic states. While the geopolitical context and concerns about Iran's regime are acknowledged, the authors emphasize the need for consistency and careful consideration of the risks and potential benefits of an Iranian presence in Antarctica.
