This article examines the representation of race in gender-based violence (GBV) research published in top-tier higher education journals. The authors argue that the focus on whiteness in GBV research is problematic and perpetuates systemic racism. Using critical content analysis, the authors analyzed 22 articles published between 2010 and 2022 in six top-tier journals. They found that the majority of articles did not meaningfully include race in their research, and there was a lack of diverse racial inclusion. The authors call for more intersectional and racially inclusive research in GBV studies and urge journal editors to reflect on their practices and promote inclusivity. [Extracted from the article] |
