As technology continues to advance, the number of devices used to access digital content and services is increasing rapidly. This has resulted in a significant challenge for designers and developers to create user interfaces that are effective and efficient across multiple devices, each with its unique screen size, resolution and interaction capabilities. This paper aims at developing an adaptive e-commerce website that can adjust to different device interfaces and browser types. The system uses various design patterns and device capabilities to create a seamless and consistent user experience across multiple devices such as desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones. Our approach leverages user modeling, context awareness, and responsive design techniques to automatically customize the user interface based on device type, screen size, browser type, input modalities and user preferences. The proposed system uses a combination of user profiling, device profiling and responsive design principles to automatically customize the user interface to ensure that users have an optimal experience regardless of the device they are using. The development process followed an iterative approach known as 'agile model', which involves planning, requirement gathering and analysis, design, implementation, testing and deployment. The system was tested for usability, functionality, adaptability and compatibility. In summary, this web-based e-commerce system provides a simple and efficient platform for users to access and interact with digital content and services seamlessly across multiple devices.
