A recent report from the University of Colorado discusses the potential impact of early feeding practices on long-term health, particularly in relation to non-communicable diseases like metabolic and allergic diseases. The report examines the recommendations for breastfeeding and formula feeding, as well as the introduction of solid foods, in relation to food allergy prevention. It also addresses the use of plant-based infant formulas and their compliance with US and EU regulations. The review of the literature suggests that plant-based formulas can support adequate infant growth, are suitable for managing cow's milk allergy, and do not increase the risk of food allergies or allergic reactions when introduced early in life.
