A recent study conducted by the International Institute of Health Management Research in India assessed the needs and gaps in the public health cadre in select states. The study found that there is a need for a structured and organized public health setup with trained personnel at all levels. The research highlighted deficits in human resources skilled in public health management and limited opportunities for contractual staff. The study also identified challenges in data utilization for policy-making. Despite these challenges, the states are committed to finding solutions to overcome these barriers and evolve a dedicated public health cadre in India. [Extracted from the article] |
