Abstrakt: Researchers from Virgen de la Victoria University Hospital in Malaga, Spain have conducted a study to determine the prognostic value of morphofunctional techniques in predicting mortality in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The study included 86 IPF patients with a mean age of 71 years, the majority of whom were male. The researchers found that the rectus femoris cross-sectional area (RF-CSA) and phase angle (PhA) were good prognostic markers of 12-month mortality in IPF patients. These findings suggest that RF-CSA and PhA could be useful screening tools to complement the nutritional assessment of IPF patients. [Extracted from the article]
