Abstrakt: | A recent study conducted by researchers at the University of Florence in Italy examined the use of valacyclovir as a treatment for preventing congenital cytomegalovirus infection during pregnancy. The study compared outcomes between women who received valacyclovir treatment and those who did not. The results showed that valacyclovir significantly reduced the rate of congenital cytomegalovirus diagnosis at the time of amniocentesis and was associated with a reduction in termination of pregnancy and symptomatic congenital cytomegalovirus infection at birth. The treatment was generally well-tolerated, with a small percentage of women experiencing mild adverse reactions. [Extracted from the article] |
