A recent study conducted by researchers at the Oregon Shoulder Institute aimed to determine the reliability and accuracy of remote visual estimation of shoulder range of motion (ROM) in healthy volunteers and symptomatic patients. The study involved 50 shoulder surgeons who independently estimated shoulder ROM based on video recordings of 10 healthy volunteers and 10 symptomatic patients. The results showed that there was generally high interobserver reliability among the surgeons, but limited accuracy compared to digital goniometer measurements. The researchers suggest that the use of validated instruments to measure ROM and the standardization of examination procedures should be considered to improve accuracy. [Extracted from the article] |
