A recent study conducted by researchers at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) has found a potential modifying effect of the APOEe4 allele on the age of onset and clinical manifestations in patients with early-onset Alzheimer's disease (EOAD). The study analyzed 101 individuals with a diagnosis of EOAD, and found that patients carrying at least one APOEe4 allele showed delays in age of onset compared to those without the allele. Additionally, the study found that the presence of the APOEe4 allele was associated with certain clinical manifestations, such as gait disorders and apraxia. These findings suggest that the APOEe4 allele may play a role in delaying the onset of EOAD and modifying its clinical presentation. [Extracted from the article] |
