A recent study conducted at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, examined the recurrence and survival rates of patients with primary cutaneous leiomyosarcoma (cLMS), a rare type of tumor. The study found that low-grade cLMS cases had no recurrence or death, while intermediate- to high-grade cases had a recurrence rate of 19.1% and a death rate of 8.5%. The researchers concluded that surveillance following treatment is important for patients with intermediate- to high-grade tumors due to the potential for local recurrence, distant metastasis, and death. This information is valuable for individuals researching leiomyosarcoma and its treatment options. [Extracted from the article] |
