A study conducted by researchers at Carl von Ossietzky University in Oldenburg, Germany, explored the use of hearables, such as hearing aids, as a sensor position for near-fall detection. The study found that the ear sensor position showed similar signal characteristics to the preferred sensor positions on the torso. However, the research was conducted under laboratory conditions, and further investigation is needed to determine the effectiveness of the ear sensor position in everyday life. Falls and gait disorders can lead to hospitalization and immobilization, and near-falls may indicate an increased risk of falling. [Extracted from the article] |
