Scientists at The Herbert Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation & Technology have trained artificial intelligence (AI) to predict how cell surface receptors will respond to drug-like molecules with over 80% accuracy. The researchers used molecular tracking technology to profile the action of cellular drug targets and their genetic variations. The long-term goal is to use this AI platform to design precision medications based on individual genetic variations, allowing for custom-tailored prescriptions and advancing precision medicine. The study highlights the importance of understanding the complex interactions between drugs and cell receptors for the development of safer and more effective medicines.
