Abstrakt: A recent study conducted at University Hospital Wurzburg in Germany has found that dimethyl fumarate (DMF) may have potential as a therapeutic candidate for reducing immune cell-driven damage in stroke. The researchers conducted experiments on male mice and found that DMF treatment significantly reduced infarct volumes and brain edema. Additionally, DMF administration attenuated lymphocyte infiltration in the acute phase of stroke, potentially due to its stabilizing effect on the blood-brain barrier. These findings suggest that DMF could be a promising treatment option for mitigating immune cell-driven damage in stroke. [Extracted from the article]
