A study conducted by researchers at Kanazawa University in Cameroon examined the skin microbiome profile of individuals living with HIV/AIDS. The study found that the diversity and composition of the skin microbiome were significantly altered in HIV-infected individuals compared to healthy individuals. Specifically, the abundance of certain skin microbes was higher in HIV-infected individuals, indicating an early change in the skin microbiome in response to HIV infection. The researchers suggest that these findings could provide insights into the development of cutaneous diseases and the potential for new treatments for microbial-related skin disorders.
